Saint Kitts and Nevis government have long-running citizenship by investment program, It was established in 1984 and is known for being the first citizenship by investment program in the world. St. Kitts citizenship can be obtained through two routes. In order to qualify for citizenship, applicants can donate an amount of US $150,000 to the Sustainable Growth Fund or by investing an amount of US $200,000 in real estate pre-approved by the government.

Type of Citizenship Options

Saint Kitts and Nevis Citizenship by Investment Program is one of the oldest economic citizenship programs and was founded in 1984. This program is run by the Citizenship by Investment Unit and serves as a positive example to the other countries.

Under the citizenship by investment program, foreign investors and their families are permitted to invest for full citizenship with the right to vote, live, and work in the country.

Saint Kitts and Nevis doesn't impose any visit or stay requirements, nor do they require any language test, and the citizenship can be passed on to newborn babies by descent.

The candidates and their family members who are eligible as per the guidelines can gain the citizenship of Saint Kitts and Nevis by choosing any of the following ways -

  1. Donation to the Sustainable Growth Fund (SGF)
  2. Investing in pre-approved real estate property

Donation to The Sustainable Growth Fund (SGF)

This was introduced in April 2018. Saint Kitts and Nevis government contribute this amount for the development of the education sector, healthcare, infrastructure, improving and encouraging economic growth, promoting, preserving, protecting, and developing the nation’s culture and heritage.

Here is the amount of contribution the applicant needs to make for availing the citizenship

Single applicant - US $150,000
Main applicant and spouse - US $175,000
Family of four - US $195,000

For any subsequent dependents, an additional donation of US $10,000 is required.

Investment in Pre-approved Real Estate

Real estate investments can vary between luxury resorts, hotels shares, and condominium units. The minimum amount of investment that is required under the pre-approved real estate option is US $200,000 with the additional requirement to maintain the ownership of the property for at least seven years. After the seven years period, applicants have the right to sell the property under the citizenship by investment program.

The other option is to invest US $400,000 into real estate and maintain the property for 5 years, applicants will be eligible to sell the property under the citizenship by investment program once the 5 year period has passed.

Both options are subjected to additional government fees.

Saint Kitts and Nevis Citizenship Limited Time Offer

Prime Minister Dr. The Honourable Timothy Harris of Saint Kitts and Nevis has announced a significant time-limited reduction in the amount of the donation required under The Sustainable Growth Fund (SGF) for a family of four. The reduction came due to the fallout of the global economy caused by the coronavirus pandemic and attempts by the country to maintain the economic growth of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

The time-limited offer reduction has started on the 3rd of July 2020, and it will stay available until the end of 2020.

Families of up to four can now apply through the Sustainable Economic Fund (Donation) at a discounted rate of US $150,000 instead of the standard contribution rate of a family of four which is at US $195,000. The Minimum contribution is reduced by US $45,000. However, the single applicant's minimum contribution will remain at US $150,000 unchanged.

Revocation of Saint Kitts and Nevis Citizenship

All the applicants who have fulfilled the legal requirements and have passed the due diligence process are granted citizenship of Saint Kitts and Nevis. They are assured that their citizenship cannot be canceled or revoked, irrespective of the changes in the executives or policies of the government, except only in the most exceptional circumstances.

Saint Kitts and Nevis passport is valid for a period of 10 years and can be renewed at any consulate of Saint Kitts and Nevis, once it expires.

Renunciation of Saint Kitts and Nevis Citizenship

Saint Kitts and Nevis allow dual citizenship and they don’t restrict or ask their citizens to give up on their previous nationality.
